Sicily asks Cuba to send medics because Italy fights second Covid influx

Request made to embassy in Cuba as island struggles with lack of doctors and nurses

Authorities in Sicily have asked Cuba’ s authorities to send about 60 healthcare employees, including doctors and nurses, towards the region as hospitals in the Italian language island struggle with a shortage associated with medical personnel during the second coronavirus wave.

The ask for was filed this week to the Italian language embassy in Cuba and describes intensive care specialists, nurses, anaesthetists, resuscitators, virologists and pneumologists, the Italian paper la Repubblica reported .
