Cuba’s health system buckles below strain of overwhelming Covid surge

A lack of medical supplies is usually crippling the Covid reaction, amid an economic crisis started by the pandemic and ALL OF US sanctions

Julia, a community doctor in Havana, was drafted to the intense care unit soon after Covid-19 first reached Cuba.

Last week, her aunty died from the virus. Recently, she also tested optimistic amid a surge in the event which has pushed the island’s vaunted health service in order to its limits and motivated rare public criticism through Cuban doctors.
