Dissident San Isidro movement small known until it publicised demonstration on social media
Cuban authorities have broken up a demonstration by a group of dissident artists, teachers, journalists and activists, evicting all of them from their headquarters where they had announced a hunger strike against decreases on civil liberties.
Authorities said they had to get involved late on Thursday because of infractions of hygiene protocols to prevent coronavirus spread. But the group said it was an “ absurd” pretext designed for ending a protest that shone a spotlight on rights violations in the one-party state.
